Ramakrishna Mission Kalyani

Kalyani Ramakrishna Temple

As per the teachings of Swami Vivekananda, the construction of Sri Ramakrishna temples should serve as a pathway for devotees to embark on a spiritual journey towards truth, embracing all faiths without animosity. Swami Vivekananda personally established the guidelines for building the temple at Belur Math. These principles formed the foundation upon which additional architectural elements, indigenous to the region, were integrated while preserving its universal appeal. Consequently, the Universal Temple at Belur Math harmoniously synthesizes a myriad of architectural features and motifs derived from Hindu, Buddhist, and Jain temples, as well as the churches and cathedrals of Europe.

Campus

From its humble beginnings in August 1970, the Ramakrishna Mission Kalyani center would eventually emerge as a meeting place for the region’s growing community of spiritual seekers as well as a key driver of the city’s interfaith efforts.

The sprawling 0.62 acre campus nestles the aesthetically designed Sri Ramakrishna Universal temple flanked by lush green lawns dotted with vibrant gardens.

Despite being at the heart of the city, the serenity and tranquility of the Ramakrishna Mission, Kalyani draws thousands of devotees every year serving as a beacon of light and hope to the spiritually inclined souls.

The main temple building houses a well equipped auditorium with a seating capacity of 250 people. The campus also houses monks’ quarters, the main office of Ramakrishna Mission Kalyani, a sales counter for books and other items and a small dining hall.

In line with Swami Vivekananda’s ideal of serving humanity, “shib gyane jib sheba“, the Ramakrishna Mission, Kalyani campus also houses a medical center offering free medical services through qualified physicians and also a hall for Yoga classes and Youth activities.
